Jebel Jais
Mountain ranges formed over 70 million years ago created the UAE’s highest peak. Can you name a better way of escaping the heat as you ascend into the clouds, whilst also capturing some of the best sunrise and sunset views in the whole of the UAE.
Most vantage points on Jebel Jais provide unrivalled views, but we’d strongly recommend the Jebel Jais Observation Deck. The observation deck is around an hours drive from the centre of RAK but well worth the journey. There’s a variety of things to do there too including Zip Lining, Hiking, Cyling, Dining and Camping; so you can make the day of it!
Wadi Naqab
A 25 minute drive from RAK will take you to the Hajar Mountains and here you will find Wadi Naqab. This seasonal water course is an area of natural beauty which is why it see’s hundreds of daily tourists capturing photo’s at sunrise & sunset. During the dry season, the wadi is also a great walking spot for hikers.
During the wetter months (which are few and far between), the wadi is also a great spot to capture wandering wildlife such as the Arabian Leopard, Spiny Tailed Lizard, Migrating Flamingo and many small lizards.
Dhayah Fort
The highest hilltop fort in the UAE is bound to present great views of the landscape day or night. Less than a 20 minute drive from RAK the fort presents you with some 18th century history as well as a great vantage point for viewing sunrise and sunset.
Ras Al Khaimah Beach
The obvious spots sometimes never disappoint. Where better to catch the sunrise or sunset than on one of the most beautiful beaches in the UAE. The sun setting behind the waves crashing into the rocks on Ras Al Khaimah beach as you take a stroll to cool off from a day in the Arabian heat is sure enough to tempt many.
Rooftop Bar at The Bay of RAK
Dubai is famous for it’s rooftop bars, however RAK also has its fair share. One of the best things to do after a long hot day is to relax with a drink in hand over a nice view. The rooftop bar at Hilton Hotel Ras Al Khaimah provides just that. Overlooking the bay of RAK, sunset views are sure to be captivating.
Bay of RAK – From The Ground
Not quite as good of a vantage point, but at the right time, equally as stunning at sunset or sunrise.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Take a slightly different outlook on sunrise & sunset views by visiting some historical landmarks. The grandeur of a place such as the Sheikh Zayed Mosque ensures any moments worth capturing are that little bit more special.
Saraya Island
The UAE is an extremely popular destination for camping and presents some great beach and mountain spots to experience. Ras Al Khaimah also offers to opportunity to beach camp too, and by doing so at Saraya Islands you give yourself the best chance of waking up the right way, to the sound of the waves and the gorgeous sunrise views.
