Which Dubai Beach Has The Best Things to Do?

When visiting the beach, you tend to want there to be a range of activities to do, so let’s take a look at what activities there are at each beach. For this section, we will not be looking at nearby activities, but solely focusing on ones at the beach or on their promenade.

Things to do at The Beach at JBR

Firstly, The Beach has one of the city’s most photographed locations right onsite, we of course mean the Flying Cup! The Flying Cup is a slowly spinning ride so you can take in all angles of the magnificent city and even enjoy a drink or dinner whilst you’re up there!

However, if you fancy something a bit more adrenaline-inducing, The Beach has plenty of water sports activities for you to take your pick from. The water activities include classics such as the banana boat and parasailing, and something different such as flyboarding, jetpacking, wakeboarding, and water-skiing.

And this is by no means all! The Beach has a train for your children, camel rides, open air yoga, a beach volleyball court, and an outdoor gym. That’s all without even venturing onto the promenade! The Walk at JBR is a hotspot for going on a shopping spree or having your pick at the many restaurants across the beachfront. Located between Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah, the Black Palace Beach is easy to miss as it’s concealed by palm trees, but offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. You won’t find so many activities here as it is a secret beach, but it makes for a perfect spot to just relax, unwind, and spend some quality time with your close loved ones.

Things to do at Sunset Beach

The Sunset Public Beach is a hotspot for surfboarding with views of the Burj Al Arab setting the scene! The reason for this is that the waters are still and calm, but there are plenty of high winds to make for a enjoyable experience for those testing the waters and seasoned surfers alike.

For those looking to get their daily exercise, there is also a running track alongside the beachfront. Sunset Beach also offers a completely different experience with their night swimming, as you may have guessed it is one of the only beaches to offer night-time swimming, so this is a great must if you fancy a moonlit dip.

Which Dubai Beach is the Most Accessible?

It’s all good and well there being some fantastic beaches, but it becomes redundant if you cannot get them. Luckily, all of Dubai’s beaches are accessible, but here we will look at which is the easiest to access!

The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence

The Beach at JBR is blessed for being located right by the shopping centre, so there are plenty of transport links located nearby. Firstly there’s the Jumeirah Beach Residence Station 1 and 2 for the bus which leaves you at a 10 to 15 minute walk from the beach depending on which way you are going. Here, you will find the 8, 84, and N55 services which arrive around every 15 minutes and have connections to areas all over the city.

Next, there’s the Jumeirah Beach Residence 2 stop for the T1 tram, which leaves you around 10 minutes from the beachfront. As for the nearest metro station, you’re looking at the DMCC Station 1 which puts you at a 15 to 20 minute walk to The Beach.

Accessibility Rating – 5 Stars

Palm West Beach

Palm West Beach is located on the western side of The Palm as you come onto the island so it’s not located too far away. However, the only feasible way to get to it is by either driving or through the Al Ittihad Park monorail stop which leaves you with a short 3 minute walk from the beach’s edge. The monorail station offers the NB and SB services which run across the island and back to mainland.

Accessibility Rating – 4 Stars

Al Sufouh Secret Beach

Al Sufouh Secret Beach is located in a slightly quieter area of the city, but fortunately it has some great access points. The beach is located right beside the Dubai College 1 bus stop where you can catch the 8, 88, and N55 services. Likewise, for heading back the Dubai College 2 bus stop is a 8 minute walk away.

Accessibility Rating – 4 Stars

Sunset Beach

The Sunset Beach is located at a quieter section of the city, but near lots of green space such as Umm Suqeim Park. It serves the 8, 81, 88, and N55 services with the neighbouring Umm Suqeim Park 2 stop being around a 10 to 15 walk away. Unfortunately, there are no tram or metro stations within walking distance.

Accessibility Rating – 3 Stars

Kite Beach

Kite Beach is located near the green Jumeira Park in a less busy area of the city. The closest bus stop is the Umm Suqeim 1 1 which is approximately a 5 to 10 minute walk from Kite Beach. The bus stop operates the 8, 81, 88, and N55 services. Alternatively, there is the Abu Manara Masjid which is a similar walking distance to the beach and operates the same services. Much like Sunset Beach, there are no trams or metro stops within walking distance.

Accessibility Rating – 3 Stars

Jumeirah Public Beach

Jumeirah Beach is situated in the Jumeirah district, neighbouring Dubai Creek. The nearest bus stop would be Majlis Al Ghoreifa 1, which is located a 10 minute walk away from Jumeirah Beach and serves the 8, 81, 88, N55, and X28 services. The returning stop is the Majlis Al Ghoreifa 2 and is also a 10 minute walk away. As with some of the previous beaches, there are no tram stops or metro stations in walking distance.

Accessibility Rating – 3 Stars

Open Beach

The Open Beach neighbours the luxurious Daria Island in the Jumeirah district, it is surrounded by a good assortment of restaurants to grab a bite in. With regards to nearby bus stops, you can find Rashid Al Hadees Masjid 1, which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Open Beach and operates the 8, 81, 88, and N55 services.

Along the same road, you can also find the Rashid Bin Bakhait Masjid 1 located a 5 to 10 minute walk away and serving the same bus services as well as the X28 service. The returning Rashid Bin Bakhait Masjid 2 stop is located a 10 to 15 minute walk away.

Accessibility Rating – 3 Stars

Mercato Beach

Mercato Beach is located slightly further along the shore than the Open Beach, surrounded by restaurants and shops. For bus stops, the nearest is Hassa Bint Al Murr Masjid 1, which is located a short 5 minute walk from the shoreline! The stop serves the 8, 9, 88, and C10 services. The opposite direction stop Hassa Bint Al Murr Masjid 2 is located the same distance away for an easy access.

Unfortunately, Mercato Beach is also not located near any tram or metro stations.

Accessibility Rating – 2 Stars

La Mer Beach

La Mer Beach neighbours the Laguna Waterpark so it makes for a great stop after a day of adventure! The closest bus stop is the Beach Center 1 which is located around a 5 to 10 minute walk away and serves the 8, 9, 88, and C10 services. The returning stop, Beach Center 2, is a similar time length away for convenience.

Accessibility Rating – 3 Stars
